Our Facilities
Our state-of-the-art, continuous motion punching system is fully automated and computer-controlled, delivering precise patterns and hole sizes every time. This unit can punch numerous flexible packaging materials, including coextruded films, custom film laminations, or raw materials such as BOPP, PET, LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, CPP, BON, mPET, Foil, PVDC, and many more.
Our punching unit has been integrated into one of our existing slitting lines, so we can punch and slit in one pass. We can punch perfectly symmetrical holes on a moving web, either to print registration or continuous linear lines, depending on production requirements.
We can punch hole diameters ranging from 3-10mm, with custom diameters up to 16mm. The size of holes in flexible packaging film can depend on the type of film, gauge, temperature, running speeds, and settings of the perforating machine. Our machine is capable of “programmable” patterns to accommodate almost any job.
Applications
Some products, such as fruit and vegetables, require high breathability or OTRs to extend their shelf life, and customizing a punch pattern can achieve that. Mulch bags are another example of products using punch holes. These holes are used for air circulation and to allow moisture and rain to penetrate the bag. The main applications of these products typically include maintaining respiration rates in produce and managing moisture levels/drying time in hot climates.
